Sheet Music
Special thanks to Xaphoon enthusiast Larry Kuhns for creating this Xaphoon-specific sheet music!
These songs have been carefully selected to include all notes in the lower one and a half octaves of the Xaphoon range, including most accidentals (sharps and flats).
Chord names and lyrics are included.
All sheet music is written for the standard C Xaphoon.
We hope you find these sheet music pages helpful in learning to play the Xaphoon. With practice, you'll quickly find that you will be able to start playing songs by ear without the need for sheet music. Good luck and keep Xaphooning!
For more advanced material, Xaphoon fan Bod has compiled a 175-page book called Xaphoon Melodies (9.5 MB) with similar fingerings shown.
Additionally, Tim’s Tunes & Tabs (T3 for short) is a free Windows 10 app that can generate sheet music with Xaphoon tabs from either MIDI files or original sheet music! From the program’s author, Oscar Koenders:
If you want to take the next step in playing the Xaphoon, there are two things you need to learn: how to read sheet music and where to place your fingers on the instrument to produce the right notes.
The free Windows 10 app T3 will help you by showing the sheet music as well as the fingering charts for the Xaphoon. See the example of the famous song Summertime below. You start learning the song just looking at the fingering charts. After you are more comfortable finding the right spots for your fingers, you start reading the sheet music.
